♦ FAQs:
How often should I get a massage?
Some people get massages weekly, biweekly, or monthly for relaxation and enhanced well-being. For those who are recovering from injury or chronic pain, weekly (or even more frequent) massages may be necessary at the beginning of treatment, then more time can elapse between sessions as the condition improves or as a physician recommends.
Your prices are lower than most massage providers in the area...Why?We try to keep our costs low so we can offer the most reasonable rates possible. We believe massage can work wonders in improving people's quality of life, and we want to make it accessible to as many as possible.
Do you accept medical insurance? Most medical insurance plans only pay for massage when it is prescribed by a medical doctor to treat a diagnosed condition, and only for a specified number of sessions. Currently we do not accept medical insurance, but we are actively pursuing this option to better assist clients whose treatment plans meet these criteria. Please check back with us for updates!
Do you use sterile acupuncture needles? Our acupuncturist uses single-use, disposable needles only. The needles are absolutely sterile and are never reused.
I have allergies/chemical sensitivities. Is your facility safe for me?Renewal Massage Therapeutic Healing Center strives to be a scent-free facility. We do not use incense or strongly scented products, and we try to minimize our use of chemicals in maintaining the facility. Please let us know immediately if you experience sensitivity-related discomfort during your visit. For our own as well as our clients' comfort, we use high-quality, all-natural massage lotions, some of which are made locally by Pure Pro in Greenfield, MA. Let us know if you have a known sensitivity to any massage product, or if you have a peanut allergy - we can substitute products that do not contain these ingredients.
Do I need to take off all my clothes to get a massage? You can be entirely clothed and still get a great massage! Thai Yoga massage and chair massage are two modalities where the client remains fully clothed. As for table massage, we encourage you to undress only to the limit of your comfort. We understand that for a variety of reasons many people are uncomfortable with full nudity, and it is perfectly acceptable to wear underpants or biker shorts during a massage session. Remember, too, that clients are always draped with a sheet to cover all but the area that the therapist is working on at the time.
Can I request a massage therapist of the same sex?Yes, we have male and female therapists, and we are happy to accommodate these requests. Our therapists are comfortable and experienced treating members of both sexes.
I am very overweight. Can you accommodate my needs?Yes! Everybody - every body - can benefit from acupuncture massage. We are trained in treating people of all shapes and sizes, and we have experience with large clients. Our treatment tables are rated to support at least 500 lbs. Please don't hesitate to come see us!
Do you accept walk-ins (without an appointment)? If we are in the office and have time available between appointments, we would be happy to see you. We recommend that you call ahead so a practitioner can make arrangements to see you.
Will you travel to clients' homes or offices? Some of our practitioners will do home and office visits by appointment. We have portable massage chairs and tables. A chair massage session requires minimal floor space, but for everyone's safety and comfort we require an open space of at least 6'x8' to set up a massage table. Please note that in addition to our standard prices there is a surcharge for home and office visits.
